Virtual Mother’s Day to Father’s Day Walk/Run Challenge
Join us for a virtual Walk/Run challenge
And help us support grieving moms and dads
Every year over 27,000 families will experience the death of a baby from Sudden Unexpected Infant Death or Stillbirth. For these families, the support of friends and relatives is what helps them get through this devastating time.
Sadly now, during the pandemic families are being deprived of these critical connections. Fortunately, we are still able to provide our bereavement support services through our grief line, peer support volunteers and bereavement materials, including the SIDS and Infant Loss Survival Guide that we provide free of charge to parents. And we continue to support families for many years after a baby’s death because we know that the grief journey is a marathon.
To honor these parents and help raise funds for us to continue our bereavement support program we are hosting a Virtual Run/Walk Challenge that will begin on Mother’s Day,(May 10th) and end on Father’s Day (June 21st). Over the course of these six weeks people can join us either at the beginning or anywhere along the way to run or walk.
You can start at any time during the six weeks – this is for FUN and charity.
But for those who complete the entire challenge you will have done the equivalent of a marathon!
Week 1 – walk/run a 5K (3.1 miles)
Week 2 – walk/run a 5K (3.1 miles)
Week 3 – walk/run a 5K (3.1 miles)
Week 4 – walk/run a 10k (6.2 miles)
Week 5 – walk/run a 10K (6.2 miles)
Week 6 – walk/run a 10K (6.2 miles)
Walk your dog, stroll around your back yard, walk at a safe social distance on a trail or run in your neighborhood – it all counts towards your miles.
Sign up as a family, encourage friends from around the country to participate and get people to sponsor you. Share on social media and use #everybabycounts. It all will help us to support those families for whom Mother’s Day and Father’s Day will never be quite the same.
