Andrew F. Rubenstein, M.D. Named to First Candle Board of Directors

Photo of First Candle Board member Andrew RubinsteinAndrew F. Rubenstein, MD, MPH, has joined the Board of Directors of New Canaan-based First Candle, it was announced by CEO Alison Jacobson and Board Chair David Cunningham.

Dr. Rubenstein is the newly appointed Chair, Obstetrics and Gynecology for the Dignity Health Medical Group at Saint Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center (SJHMC) in Phoenix, Arizona. This follows more than two decades in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Hackensack University Medical Center and as principal of Saddle River Women’s Health.

He has held numerous professional positions, including Chair of the Total Quality Improvement Committee for The Partnership for Maternal Child Health of Northern New Jersey, Co-Chair of the New Jersey Perinatal Quality Collaborative, and has served on the National Network of Perinatal Quality Collaborative, Alliance for Innovation on Maternal Health, and Maternal Health Task Force, among others. He has also served as Associate Clinical Professor at the Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine at Seton Hall, and been a Principal Investigator in several research studies published in peer-reviewed medical journals.

“Dr. Rubenstein has been a long-time advocate for maternal and child health as well as perinatal safety and health equity, including his involvement in health outreach services that serve disadvantaged women, are areas of critical importance to us as we move forward in addressing disparities in health care,” Jacobson said. “We’re honored to have someone with his experience and passion join our leadership.”
